100 Healers – Brighton Experiment – What Great Timing!
Back in the Autumn of 2019 I knew nothing of Colin Bloy and my knowledge of the Fountain Group was scant to say the least. I was researching material for a series of TV programmes based on Brighton and a friend suggested that The Brighton Experiment might be something to look at.
As soon as I started delving, I felt that this was something I needed to know more about. It fascinated me. I decided that it would be a good idea to re-create the experiment – and from that point, the project took on a life of its own!
Let’s go back to 1981. A wave of civil unrest is sweeping the country, fuelled by racism and class inequality. Emotions run high, and blood is shed in inner-city riots such as those at Toxteth.
In Brighton – still suffering from weekend run-ins and violence after the regular seafront confrontations of the Mods and Rockers in the late 1960s – a dowser and healer called Colin Bloy was conducting experiments with the use of energy in healing. His studies had already shown that healing energy worked on plants and animals as well as people. He knew that this energy could be sent across the miles – certainly from England to Spain – and that it could be measured, even captured in photographs.
In the wake of yet another weekend of violence in his home town, Colin Bloy wondered if the same positive effects could be felt by a place. Could he send healing to Brighton and the community there?
He assembled some 100 fellow dowsers and healers and, after considerable groundwork, preparation and research, they assembled on St Michael’s Day, 29th September, 1981, for a healing meditation in St Bartholemew’s Church in Brighton. A team of dowsers measured the energy around the local “hara” or power point, the beautiful fountain at the Old Stein in Brighton, not far from the beach and famous pier. From the church, the healers sent their energy to the fountain, knowing that it would be rippled out to the local community, spreading love and healing.
The experiment worked: the crime rate fell, and there seemed to be much more coming together of the communities in the area. Delighted with the result, Colin Bloy founded what is now Fountain International, with the simple but profound intention of healing local communities everywhere.
Since then, there have been many other “Intention Experiments” and all have proved the positive power of distance healing and meditating for peace.
When I understood what Colin Bloy had done, and the impact it had, I wanted to re-create his experiment. At the time it was intended to be for a TV programme: even though that aspect fell by the wayside, the project took on a life of its own, and seemed determined to come to fruition.
I made contact with Suzanne Thomas, who produces the regular newsletters and magazines for Fountain International, and who is guardian of the Fountain archives. We met, we talked, we formulated a plan to bring the experiment to life, with the support of her tribe of Fountaineers and my tribe of Indigos – and anyone else who wanted to join in!
As we set the date – Spring Equinox 2020 – it seemed that Brexit would be the main issue to be healed but no, out of the blue came a new challenge, Coronavirus.
It meant that we had to ask people not to come to Brighton in person to do their healing, but rather to send it remotely to the fountain from their own homes.
Geomancer ane dowser, specialist in ley lines, earth energies and earth acupuncture Richard Creightmore, dowsed the area around the fountain almost a week before the actual date, and again immediately before and after the meditation. Provisional results show enormous increases in energy radiating from the fountain, as we would expect (full details will be published ASAP).
I have the official crime statistics for Brighton area, and I shall be monitoring those too, although the Coronavirus lockdown may well skew the stats.
We may never know the full impact of that healing session but we do know that the Universe, in its wisdom, got the timing absolutely right!
